10-Minute Ramen Style: Creamy Tonkotsu Udon with Char Siu & Corn

10-Minute Ramen Style: Creamy Tonkotsu Udon with Char Siu & Corn

If you are a die-hard fan of Japanese ramen but prefer a noodle with a silkier, chewier glide, this Creamy Tonkotsu Udon with Char Siu & Corn is about to become your ultimate go-to meal.

By combining the velvety, rich pork bone broth of Nissin Demae Iccho Bar Udon (Tonkotsu Flavor) with classic ramen toppings, you get the absolute best of both worlds. Earthy Shiitake mushrooms and sweet corn kernels act like little flavor sponges, soaking up the creamy broth, while tender slices of sweet-and-savory Char Siu (barbecue pork) bring the entire dish together.

Because the premium, flat, Inaniwa-style bar udon cooks to perfection in minutes, you can have a steaming bowl of luxury comfort food ready faster than ordering takeout!

💡 Leftover Kitchen Hack: Freeze Your Char Siu!

Whenever you buy or make a batch of Cantonese-style Char Siu, slice it up, wrap it tightly, and store it in the freezer. It defrosts beautifully! Whenever you want to upgrade a quick bowl of ramen, udon, or fried rice, simply grab a few frozen slices and toss them directly into your hot broth to warm up.

🍽️ Recipe Overview & Cooking Guide

Prep Time: 2 minutes

Cook Time: 8 minutes

Total Time: 10 minutes

Servings: 1

🛒 Ingredients Needed:

  • 1 pack Nissin Bar Udon (Tonkotsu Flavor)
  • 2–3 slices of cooked Char Siu (fresh or defrosted)
  • 2 fresh Shiitake mushrooms (thinly sliced)
  • 2 tbsp sweet corn kernels (canned or frozen)
  • 600 ml Water

🍳 Step-by-Step Cooking Instructions

  1. Whisk up the Tonkotsu Broth: Pour 600ml of water into a small pot or single-serving clay pot and bring it to a boil over high heat. Add both seasoning packets from the package and whisk well until the broth is smooth, creamy, and beautifully fragrant.
  2. Simmer Udon & Veggies: Turn the heat down to medium-low. Gently drop in the bar udon noodles, your sliced Shiitake mushrooms, and the sweet corn kernels.
  3. The 8-Minute Simmer: Cover with a lid and let everything simmer together gently for 8 minutes. Be sure to stir the noodles once or twice during this time so they separate and cook evenly.
  4. Warm the Char Siu: During the very last minute of cooking, gently lay your Char Siu slices directly into the hot, bubbling broth so they warm through completely.
  5. Serve Hot: Pour the silky noodles and creamy broth into a deep bowl, arrange your mushrooms, corn, and Char Siu nicely on top, and get ready to dig in!
